Jay Mills press release

Rapper, poet and entrepreneur, The Real Jay Mills announced today the release

of her newest EP titled, the “Smokers Soundtrack.” This seven-track project will

be the first Jay Mills project to be released this year and marks her eagerly

anticipated return to the underground, independent hip-hop scene.

Set to release on April 20, 2012, the “Smokers Soundtrack” is a double entendre

of sorts as it pays homage to the 420 subculture while lyrically elevating listeners

to a higher consciousness. Earlier this month, Mills released a short promotional

video giving fans the opportunity to preview one of the singles on the album.

Also set to release this month is the video for Jay Mills’ most recently

released single,

“Peter Piper.” Gaining much internet and national popularity from the preview,

the final cut of “Peter Piper” — shot by Rocky “Rockzilla” will debut at the

Smokers Soundtrack Album Release Party to be announced shortly.

Differing Audiences – A Battle of the Sexes

I go to a monthly event in NYC where once a year they have an all-female lineup and open mic. Something very interesting happens on that particular night – the crowd changes. Some of the regulars are still there, but for the most part the males are absent as the female artists end up having to bring their own crowd with them. They usually do a good job of packing the place, but the problem is glaring – men, and male artists, stay at home, or go elsewhere, when women are performing.
