Zarinah has been called a staple in the Philadelphia hip-hop community.

 Known to attend every hip hop concert being a big named or local artist,

 she is known for her constant support. Being born and raised in Philadelphia

 she grew up in the illest eras of music. Taking a quick hiatus to the other side

 of the country…living in New Mexico for about 5 years is where a great deal of

her Latin influences came from. Listening to various genres of music from

alternative to soul she knew that music would change her life.

 

Her interest always lied in music but for a greater part of her life she

 focused on academics earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Sciences

 and a Minor in Spanish from an esteemed College. In her spare

 time she was involved in varying performing arts such as Hip Hop,

Jazz and Afro-Modern dance which were studied at the Koresh Dance Company

 and with her own dance troupe. All the while taking various acting

 courses at the Wilma Theater, which is located on Philadelphia’s

 Avenue of the Arts. At the same time she studied piano under the

 incomparable jazz pianist Dave Burrell and soon after studied

 vocals under the beautiful jazz vocalist Sherry Butler, former

 backup singer for Teddy Pendergrass. Soon after taking a break

 from dance and solely focusing on music, she decided that music

 would be her main focus.
